WHAT ARE FIRE HYDRANTS?
Fire hydrants are underground mains fed water supply, that the fire brigade will use in the event of fire.

They are generally found on large premises such as universities, hospitals and large industrial areas. It is vital to keep these systems in good working order should they ever be needed.

It is advised that you regularly check these and have them tested each year in accordance with the British Standards, as fire hydrants are below ground level they often become clogged, damaged or inaccessible.

Static pressure test which shows the pressure within the hydrant system

Flow test this is a process of running water through a standpipe and Flow Meter this then shows how many litres of water per minute the system is running at.

Whilst carrying out the above we will also be checking for any leaks coming from the hydrant that might hinder the use of the system in the event of a fire.
