Urgent Dry Riser Installation, Sutton
We recently received a phone call from a builder in London. Who had been advised by Building Control that they required a Dry riser system for their new development.Due to inaccessibility off the building entrance, with a shop front and narrow road preventing access for the emergency services. The building was due to be handed over within the next week. So it was a matter of urgency as the new tenants couldn’t move in unless a Dry Riser was installed.
WHAT WE DID
Upon receiving the enquiry, we attended the site within 24 hours, to offer our advise and assist where possible. With the Building all but complete the usual route of running in the ceiling voids wasn’t feasible. So we came up with a route that didn’t require any walls or ceilings to be taken down but still meet current BS 9990-2015 standards. The route required us to utilise the car park area at the rear of the building. And running the pipework up and above the perimeter wall. with a Landing Valve situated on Level 1. Which covered the new apartments, with signage placed in prominent positions to show the positions of all Valves.
Once the client had received our official quotation. We was instructed to install before project completion date. To the clients relief the project was completed less than 48 hours from initial enquiry. Meaning that there was no delays or extra costs and the building was fully insured for new residents. We have also been handed the maintenance package. With the building management team taking advantage of our 5 year warranty.
